Whether you’re a politician or a personal trainer, a CEO or a cleaning lady, you have the power to control your own destiny. The thing is, not everyone knows how to harness that power—and if they do, they don’t know how to use it in a way that benefits them rather than hurts them (like at one of those laser tag places that just makes you sad). Here’s what I mean: If you’re always running around to get everything done because there’s never enough time in the day… but then at night when all your work is done and laying on top of your bed like an ugly little monster demanding attention… why not just put that phone down for five minutes so we can talk about this? Good idea! Let’s take a look at some ways we can use our minds for success instead of failure:
Know Your Goals
The first step to achieving your goals is knowing what they are. Now, I know this might sound obvious, but it’s not as easy as it sounds. Before you can achieve anything in life, you need to have a clear understanding of what you want and why it’s important for you to achieve those things.
So let’s say that one of your goals is “to lose weight.” That’s great! But when was the last time someone set out on their weight loss journey by saying “I’m going to lose 20 pounds”? No one ever does because they haven’t thought through all their options yet–they’re just looking at the end result without considering how they’ll get there or what obstacles might stand in their way along the way.

Visualize Your Success
Visualization is a powerful technique that can help you achieve your goals. To visualize, create a mental picture of what it will look like when you have achieved your goal. This may sound silly, but there’s science behind it!
Visualize yourself doing what needs to be done and feeling how good it feels to have achieved your goal. You can even imagine enjoying the benefits of having reached that point in life where things are going well for you–the sense of fulfillment, pride in yourself and others’, etc…
A lot of people think they can’t afford fitness equipment or pay for a personal trainer at first so they don’t bother with exercise altogether; however if these people would just get off their butts and exercise without any equipment at all then maybe they would realize how much easier than expected (and more fun) exercising really is!
Meditate Daily
Meditation is a great way to relax and focus your mind. You can meditate anywhere, anytime, even if you only have five minutes to spare. Meditation isn’t just for monks and hippies–it’s an incredibly useful tool that can help with anxiety, stress and depression.
Meditation also has benefits for your brain! It increases blood flow to areas of the brain responsible for learning new information (the hippocampus), improves memory function by increasing activity in other parts of the brain involved in memory formation (such as the prefrontal cortex), lowers cortisol levels (stress hormone) and increases neuroplasticity – allowing us more control over our thoughts and feelings which helps us stay calm under pressure.
Plus if you’re looking to add some excitement and enjoyment to your meditation routine, why not try incorporating music into your practice? Whether you prefer soothing sounds or upbeat rhythms, music can help you relax, focus, and even elevate your mood. You could create a custom playlist of your favorite songs or use a guided meditation that includes music. So, go ahead and get your groove on while you meditate!
Get to Know Yourself
Before we go any further, it’s important to know yourself. Self-awareness is the first step toward harnessing your mind for success. You need to know where you stand, what motivates you and what makes sense for your life right now.
You may be tempted to skip this section because it sounds like a bunch of new age mumbo jumbo. But trust us–it isn’t! This is the most important part of our whole guide because if we don’t know ourselves well enough, then how can we expect anyone else too?
When we’re talking about getting to know yourself:
- What are my strengths? Weaknesses? And how can I use them both in my favor? What do others say about me that rings true or not so much?
What do I want to achieve in my life? What are my goals? How can I use them as a compass for the next step?
The first step is to write down as many answers as possible. Then, try to connect them together and see how they fit into your life.
Once you know yourself, it’s time to get another perspective. This is where getting feedback from others becomes important. It’s easy to think that we’re great at everything we do, but the truth is often far from it!
When we get feedback from others, it helps us see things in a new light. For example, if someone tells you that they don’t like how much time you spend talking about yourself (which is probably true), then it’s up to you to figure out what that means. Is there something deeper going on? Or are they just being mean? These types of questions can only be answered by taking the time to really think about them.
Surround Yourself With Positive People
I’m not saying that you should cut people out of your life just because they’re negative. But if someone is constantly making negative comments, it’s important to ask yourself how this affects you. Are they dragging down your mood or making it harder for you to achieve success? If so, then it might be time to let them go and surround yourself with more inspiring friends who will help motivate and support you as well as provide positive feedback when necessary.
The same goes for toxic relationships in general–if someone isn’t good for us, then we needn’t feel guilty about cutting ties with them!
Listen to Positive Music
Music is a powerful tool. It can be used to help you stay focused, relax, feel more positive and inspired, be more productive and sleep better.
The right song can even help you exercise better by increasing your heart rate or breathing rate during a workout session!
If you’re looking for some new tunes to add into your playlist: try listening to music that matches the mood of what you want from it–for example if I’m working out at home on my own in the morning then I’ll usually put on something upbeat like uplifting trance but if I’m going out later in the day then something more chilled might work better so that way I’m not too tired by the time evening comes around (and vice versa).
Take Time to Unwind After Work
When you get home, take some time to unwind. You deserve it!
- Take a bath or shower. This is one of my favorite ways to relax–it’s relaxing, it feels good and can help you fall asleep faster at night (if that’s something that happens).
- Meditate or practice mindfulness exercises like yoga or tai chi. There are lots of apps out there that will guide you through these types of activities if they sound like something that would interest you; I personally use Calm, which has guided meditation sessions as well as mindfulness exercises for specific situations (like when I’m feeling anxious). There are also lots of free resources online if all else fails!
- Read a book/watch Netflix/do whatever else relaxes YOU! It doesn’t matter what activity works best for YOU personally–just make sure it isn’t too stimulating (like watching Game Of Thrones) so that it doesn’t keep your mind racing long after bedtime rolls around later on tonight 🙂
You have a lot of power to control your own destiny. Here’s how to use it.
You are in control of your own destiny. You can use the power of your mind to achieve any goal you want, whether it’s becoming a billionaire or simply finding happiness. Here are some tips for harnessing that power:
- Visualize yourself achieving your goals. When we visualize something, our brains create a mental image of what we’re visualizing and then go about figuring out how to make it happen in real life–whether that means memorizing information or learning new skills like playing guitar or speaking Mandarin Chinese fluently. So if you want something badly enough (like becoming fluent in Mandarin), spend time imagining yourself speaking flawlessly at a dinner party where everyone else understands nothing but Mandarin except for one person who speaks English very well–and she loves listening to people practice their language skills!
- Meditate daily for 10 minutes at first; then try 20 minutes per day after two weeks when meditation becomes easier for you.
- Surround yourself with positive people who support what’s important to YOU.
- Listen regularly (at least once per week) only music that makes YOU happy because otherwise how will anyone know where YOUR happiness lies?
Conclusion
The mind is a powerful tool, and it’s up to you how you use it. You can choose to let your thoughts run wild or harness them for good. I hope these tips will help you get started on the right path toward a better life!
